XDM30

Xdm 30 is an x-ray two spindle drilling machine for the execution of reference holes in multilayers printed circuit boards. The machine drills two reference holes and the orientation one using an algorithm to optimize the two position centerline. If any error is found, the system splits the difference on the x axis before drilling.

The distance between the two heads is measured by an absolute linear encoders with 1 micron resolution and measurement repeatability of 3 microns which allows to re-start a job previously memorized with an accuracy of less than 10microns. All movements are performed by means of brushless motors and precision screws which allow increasing movements of 1 micron. With a proper design of markers, it is furthermore possible to execute the orientation hole automatically and with no error. It is also possible to measure the distortion of single layers.

Xdm 30 functioning is really easy and fast. The panel has to be placed manually inside the machine. After a short manual pre-alignment, the operator adjusts and fixes all board stops, which will make easier the insertion and the holding of other panels that will be processed afterwards. Once given the job name and entered all necessary information, (eg: marker dimensions, panel dimensions, brightness and contrast), the software stores all settings. Now the machine is ready to execute the job in semi-automatic mode. The unloading is automatic. It is possible to store and recall more than 10.000 jobs.The system looks for references and drills in less than 10 seconds and its productivity is approximately of 5/6 panels per minute also according to operator skill, sort of drilling, reference definition, if there is a frame around the circuit etc. Xdm 30 provides also few statistical data on the process control which can be sorted out in different way according to the specific need .Data concern mainly the stretching or shrinking (delta) of the single panel, as an average, as a minimum and maximum spread or as a standard deviation. Setting a new job is extremely fast (few minutes) making XDM 30 a cost-saving machine, ideal also for small lots of production.
