RDM
Resin Deburr Machine
Overview
The JJA RDM (Resin Deburr Machine) provides a simple and cost effective way to remove resin bleed and burrs around tooling holes. The RDM quickly and accurately removes the bleed and burrs from both sides of pin laminated MLB's.
With the easy to use RDM, operators simply slide panels into position on the RDM's work table, depress the foot switch and the machine does the rest. Two cutter heads come together and spot face a small area around the tooling hole on both sides of the panel to completely remove bleed and burrs.
The RDM can be used to simply scuff panel surfaces or to spot face copper surfaces with a micrometer-type adjustment in increments of less than 25 μm (0.001"). Users have enhanced capability to meet fluid production schedules because changing panel thickness requires no readjustment. For users that fabricate boards using pinless lamination, the RDM is a cost effective way to expose inner layer targets.
Advantages
- Faster, less expensive, and more accurate than manually scraping resin from panel surfaces.
- Prevents damage that can occur to panel surfaces through imprecise handling of scraper.
- Precise control over cutting depth. Trims both panel sides simultaneously with the touch of a switch, preventing operator arm and shoulder fatigue.
- RDM occupies less floor space and is less expensive than multi-functional, fully automatic machinery.
- By removing the tooling hole resin burrs and bleed, the RDM prevents the following from occurring:
- plugged drill holes;
- flakes adhering to artwork during imaging;
- clogged nozzles in wet process equipment;
- resin burrs preventing stacked panels from lying flat at drilling; and
- resin burrs damaging delicate glass book tools.
Specifications
- Fine adjustability of cutting depth into panel surface through a micrometer type facility that allows the operator to make precise adjustments of less than 25 μm (0.001").
- Capability to process panels ranging in thickness from 0.76 mm (0.030") to 6.35 mm (0.250"). No adjustment is required when changing panel thickness.
Larger thickness capability available upon request (requires guarding). - Backstop that permits an adjustment of the distance between the back edge of the panel and the cutter’s center. Adjustment of range is between 9.5 mm (0.375") and 3.18 mm (0.125").
- Power: 208 to 220 VAC @ 60 Hz, 40 amps independent circuit.
- Vacuum: Minimum of 110 CFM @ 100" of water.
- Air: 0.55 n/mm2 (80 psi), clean, dry, compressed air source.
- Independent 220 VAC motors drive the upper and lower cutter heads, each containing a drill mill with replaceable indexing inserts. A choice of three cutter diameters is available: 15.875 mm (0.625"), 19.050 mm (0.750"), 25.400 mm (1"). Standard is 19.050 mm (0.750")
- Heavy duty 355 mm x 355 mm (14" x 14") non-scratching surface for supporting panels during spot facing.
- Machine noise level under 75 db during operation.
- Electrically interlocked enclosures prevent machine operation when panels are not secured properly.
- Base machine is 610 mm (24") wide, 760 mm (30") deep, 1625 mm (64") high.
Operation
Place panel on the RDM’s work table and slide into position using the tooling hole or other target for alignment. Depress the foot switch. The upper and lower cutter heads automatically move into position and spot face both sides of the tooling hole. Repeat for each tooling hole location in the panel.
Warranty
Non-wearing mechanical components warranted for 180 days. Electrical components for 90 days.
